Green bananas porridge recipe
Home-made porridge is wholesome. It has three times the amount of nutrients when compared to other packaged cereals, which are sometimes processed and contains a lot of sugar. Spices are often used to enhance the taste of a bowl of porridge. Cinnamon leaves or sticks, nutmeg, and vanilla.
6 fingers green bananas
4 cups water
less than 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
6. tbsp. skimmed milk powder or 1/2 cup coconut or evaporated milk
Sweetened condensed milk ( the amount is up to you)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cinnamon leaves with stick or few cinnamon leaves
Pour two cups water in a pot. Wash cinnamon leaves and put in pot. Allow it to boil for five minutes.
Peel green bananas, then wash them. Cut the bananas into small chunks.
Pour two cups water in blender. Add green bananas, blend until the mixture is smooth.
Add blended bananas mixture to pot with cinnamon stick. Add salt to taste. Stir, cover and allow to simmer. Stir porridge every two minutes. Simmer for 20-25 minutes. Add coconut milk or evaporated milk ,mix skimmed milk with small amount water, add to pot with porridge. Sweeten and served warm.
