Jamaican bread recipe
This is Jamaican hard dough bread. However, you can bake your own hard dough bread, just follow this recipe.
Ingredients
1 lb. all-purpose flour (depending on the size bread and the amount use more flour)
4 tablespoon margarine
1 teaspoons. instant dry yeast
2 tablespoon sugar (granulated)
1 cup water
11/2 teaspoon salt.
Method
Combine all the dry ingredients.Use the tips of your fingers to rub butter into flour. Add water and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured board. Knead for 10-20 minutes then place in a large greased bowl. Use your hand to rotate the dough to make sure the surface is greased. Cover with a dry towel then place in a warm area for 45 minutes. Punch dough down to get rid of excess carbon dioxide gas. Use a rolling pin to roll out dough to a rectangular shape. Use hands to roll up the dough as tightly as possible, ensuring that the corners are folded inwardly (forming a "log" shape). Place in a greased loaf pan 29cm x 13cm x 6cm and allow to proof for 35 minutes. Bake at 190°C until done or until bread moves away from sides of pan. Allow to cool.
Now your hard dough bread should look like this.
this looks great, I am going to try it and let you know how it goes x

I just made my bread. It's very good and it certainly is as dense as traditional hardo bread. I haven't had "authentic" hardo bread in a long time so I can't honestly say I'm in a position to say it tastes like the bread of my childhood but I do like it. I baked it at gas mark 5 (375 degrees F) for 1 hour.

Thanks for the comment. I must confess, I too baked my bread, it doesn't taste as mild as the original

thanks for visiting my blog. The home-baked bread doesn't taste as mild as the original.
