Four steps to cooking steak
How to cook steak
Cooking a steak can often be a hit and a miss affair. Considering all the elements that can affect its success-------the type of stove, the skillet, the thickness of the meat----you clearly need a certainly amount of skill.
There are a few guidelines that you can follow to achieve satisfying results
Choose an 8 oz. (225g) 1 inch (2.5cm) thick steak to be cooked over high heat
Very rare or almost raw
Sear the steak for 1 minute on each side. The meat will be browned on the outside, cooked just beneath the surface, and very red in the centre
Rare
Sear the steak for 2 minutes on each side. The meat will be browned on the outside, cooked just beneath the surface, and red or even bleeding to the centre
Medium
Cook the steak for about 3 or 4 minutes on each side. The meat will be well-browned on the surface and pink in the centre
Well done
Cook the steak for 5 minutes on each side. The meat will be uniformly cooked through. (not recommend because the flavour is lost)
