Jamaican ginger beer recipe
This is Jamaican traditional old-fashioned ginger beer
2 lbs. ginger (907g) ginger
Sweeten with brown or granulated sugar
Juice of 1 lime
4 cups water (more or less)
Wash the ginger properly with water. Cut ginger into small pieces and blend in 2 cups water. Strain off juice through a clean piece of cheese cloth.
If the ginger beer is too strong add some water to it to suite your taste. Add the juice of one lime and sweeten with sugar to your taste. Stir, allow the ginger beer to stand for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, pour the ginger beer into a glass container; do not allow what is settled at the bottom of the container to pour into the glass container. Keep refrigerated.
