How to boil corn on the cob

boiled corn

Jamaican people love corn. Boiled corn is a favourite among Jamaicans, not to mention the delicious hominy porridge. Boiled corn is sold on almost every street corner in Jamaica.

Fresh corn is delicious, but frozen corn is just as good. Thaw them in the refrigerator first.

Ingredients

4 cups water

1 pk. cock flavoured soup mix

2 tbsp. chopped parsley

2 ears of corn, cut into 5 pieces

Salt and black pepper to taste

3 pats of butter (optional)

Use 4 cups chicken stock instead of 4 cups of water and cock flavoured soup mix.

Method

Step1

Pour 4 cups of water in a large saucepan or Dutch pot. Sieve the cock soup mix to separate the flavour from the noodle; add the flavour into  the pot, discard the noodle. (You can use chicken stock, instead of doing this). Add the parsley and bring to a boil.

Step2

Taste stock and add salt if needed, add black pepper and corn chunks. Cook corn chunks for 15 minutes, then drain and serve warm with butter, if desired.
