Jamaican cherry juice recipe
November 5, 2015
Jamaican fresh cherry drink is light and refreshing. Sweetened with granulated sugar, add the juice of one lime.
Malpighia glabra, also known as Jamaican cherry, Acerola, Barbados cherry, West Indian Garden cherry, among other names, is an excellent low-calorie snack and, because it is tart, you will put small amounts in your mouth at a time. It has a large pit so each one has a minuscule amount of calories. The pit is chewy and so can distract you as you chew and, the best part is, the cherry is so good for you. This snack is perfect for children because of its nutritious value and should be added to their food list. It can be added to other fruits to make a delicious and nutritious smoothie or it can be flavoured with ginger or lime. Go easy on the sweetener, cherry juice is just as refreshing without it.
We are unable to make Vitamin C in our body, so we must consume it from foods.
The Jamaican Cherry has red, sometimes yellow skin, is yellow inside and has two to three small oval seeds. It is slightly sweet, slightly tart and juicy, and is used to make juices, or washed and eaten just picked from the tree. The cherries are low in carbohydrates and are packed with vitamin C, vitamin A and foliate.
