How to store yam, Let me first say, I do not normally store yam because I live in Jamaica and there are vast varieties of yams here on the island. I can always get fresh yams in the market every week to buy. However, I am recovering from hernia repair surgery that I did earlier this month, so I am not able to do much at this time, including going to the market.
My husband goes to the market, and he disliked doing it, so he goes to the market every fortnight (every two weeks). And because of that I have wrapped the yams and sweet potatoes into the newspaper to keep them fresh for two weeks or more.
1. Wash yams then leave to air dry or pat dry using a kitchen towel or paper towel
2. Wrap yams into a sheet of newspaper then place into the bottom section of the fridge.
3. After 2-3 weeks, the yam will remain fresh.
