Jamaican spiced round buns
The Jamaican spice bun. These are the small round spiced buns. If you uploaded my recipe on YouTube, or on a website make sure to mention my website’s name
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour (bread flour is best)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
3 tbsp. yeast
3 tsp. melted butter
1 teaspoons salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
1 cup warm milk
3 tbsp. food browning (or more to get desire colour)
Ingredients
step1
Into the mixer add the milk, yeast, butter, egg, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, food browning and the honey. Mix it together but only until it is just combines. Sprinkle a little flour onto the dough. Remove the bowl from the mixer.
step2
Dust the work surface with flour. Remove the dough from the mixer bowl. If it seems to be too sticky then add a little more flour. Knead it with your hands until it has an elastic consistency. Grease a large bowl with oil. Place dough in bowl, turning dough to grease all sides , cover it with a towel and let it rise until it doubles in size.
After the dough has risen, remove the cloth from the bowl and sprinkle over a little flour. Punch the air out of the dough with your knuckles. Knead again.
Divide dough into about twelve pieces (its best to weigh each piece to make make they are exact sizes) Shape dough into balls. Place buns onto a cookie sheet line with greased paper, make sure to space them. Cover buns for about 2 hours or until they are double in size. After 2 hours, bake buns into a preheated oven at 350F or 177C for 20-25 minutes. Remove baked buns from oven . Make a glaze by boiling 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup water until syrupy. (maybe you can use honey instead of brown sugar, I am not sure) brush buns with glaze immediately as they come out of the oven
