Armed Robbers Steal $10 Million and Shoot Security Guards in Portmore Pines Plaza
In a shocking incident this morning, two security guards attached to Beryllium were shot by armed robbers while delivering money at the Jamaica National branch at Portmore Pines Plaza in St Catherine. Sadly, one of the guards lost his life on the spot, while the second guard, a female, was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident reportedly occurred sometime after 8 o'clock this morning, and eyewitnesses say that people who had gathered at the entrance of Jamaica National to collect their PATH payments were forced to take evasive action as the robbers made their getaway.
According to reports, the robbers made off with a bag containing a staggering $10 million and escaped in a white Subaru motor car that was waiting for them. Commander George Overton, Director of Public Relations at Guardsman Group Ltd, expressed his sadness at the incident and stated that the agency is working closely with law enforcement to investigate the matter.
Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, believes that the robbery may be connected to other high-profile heists that have occurred in the area over the past few weeks. He suspects that there may have been six masked men involved in this morning's robbery, and investigators from other locations are assisting with the probe.
It's a sad day for Beryllium, formerly Guardsman Armoured, as they mourn the loss of one of their own and send their thoughts and prayers to the wounded worker and the family of the murdered guard. As the investigation continues, we hope that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be brought to justice swiftly.
