Fatal Shooting in Granville: Two Lives Lost in gun Violence

Granville st James

On Tuesday afternoon, tragedy struck in Granville, St. James, when two young men lost their lives in a brutal shooting. Rexford Jarrett, just 24 years old, and Orane Reid, a 29-year-old construction worker known as 'Hagga,' were both fatally shot by gunmen. The incident occurred at Gut Bottom, a location that will forever be associated with this terrible event.

It is reported that at around 2:30 p.m., Jarrett got into a silver Toyota Axio motor car that was being driven by Reid. However, their journey was cut short when a white Toyota Voxy, containing several men, blocked their vehicle. Two of the men armed with firearms then got out of the Voxy and began to open fire on Jarrett and Reid's car.

As the bullets flew, an off-duty police officer who was in the vicinity, bravely confronted the attackers, leading to a shootout. Despite his heroic efforts, the gunmen were able to flee in the Voxy, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake.

Both Jarrett and Reid were rushed to Cornwall Regional Hospital, but tragically, their injuries were too severe, and they were pronounced dead upon arrival.

The loss of these two young men is a devastating blow to their families and the wider community. The fact that this shooting occurred in broad daylight in a busy area is a sobering reminder of the violence that plagues our society.
