Two security guards shot 'mistakenly' by police in Negril

Tragedy struck in Negril this morning as two security guards were shot by the police, leaving one dead and the other in serious condition in hospital. The incident occurred near the HiLo Supermarket and has left the community in shock and disbelief.

The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Dellon Harding, a resident of Seaton Crescent, Savanna-la-Mar. He was employed to Secure World Security Company and was on duty at the time of the shooting. The other guard, who has not been identified, is said to be fighting for his life in hospital.

According to reports, the police team responded to a call about a robbery sometime after 5 o'clock this morning. Upon arrival at the scene, officers allegedly mistook the two security guards for gunmen and opened fire. It is still unclear what exactly happened in the lead-up to the shooting, but investigations are ongoing.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many questioning how such a tragic mistake could have been made. Dellon Harding's family and friends are understandably devastated by his untimely death, and the thoughts and prayers of the entire community are with them during this difficult time.

This is a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by security personnel who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. As the investigation continues, we can only hope for justice and peace for all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
