Suspect in Jamaican Woman's Stabbing Death Possibly Linked to Haiti Prison Escape

The Clarendon police are investigating information suggesting that the suspect apprehended over the weekend for the stabbing death of a woman in Lionel Town may have been one of the prisoners who escaped during the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. They are currently contacting authorities in Haiti to verify this claim. The suspect had been imprisoned for drug trafficking when the earthquake struck, causing the prison to collapse. Afterward, he allegedly returned to Jamaica by boat. The suspect was arrested for the murder of Yvonne Reid, a 59-year-old woman in Lionel Town. It is believed that their disagreement was related to paint. Ms. Reid was stabbed multiple times and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
