Tragic Death of Grade 3 Student at Trelawny School

Jamaica news

Fayval Williams, the Education and Youth Minister, has requested further information regarding the death of a grade 3 student at Wakefield Primary and Infant School in Trelawny. On Wednesday, eight-year-old Alexia Drummond was found unresponsive on the floor by her teacher after lunch. She was taken to a nearby health facility and then to a hospital by school personnel, where she was pronounced dead. Alexia was known as a quiet and dedicated student by her classroom teacher.

The Education Minister urges school personnel, parents, and anyone with a duty of care for children to remain vigilant for early signs of health challenges. The Ministry of Education's team of guidance counsellors is providing support to Alexia's family and the school during this difficult time.
