Jamaica rice and peas bush

Antigonon leptopus, commonly known as rice and peas and curlene bush in Jamaica, is a flowering vine belonging to the Polygonaceae family. Native to Mexico, this fast-growing and vigorous climber is known for its attractive, cascading clusters of bright pink to coral-red flowers. The heart-shaped leaves add to its ornamental appeal. In Jamaica, a handful of the bush is picked, washed properly, then boiled, sweetened with sugar, and given to young children who are coughing and having respiratory problems
